Step by step
- 01
Save the attachment or file
If the PDF arrived by email, use Share to open it in PDF Sign & Scan or save it to Files first.

PDF SIGN & SCAN / 01 - 02
Use your real signature
Choose a saved signature. If you have never saved one, scan your handwriting from a small piece of paper—there is no need to print the PDF itself.

PDF SIGN & SCAN / 02 - 03
Check every required page
Place and resize the signature. Use page thumbnails for multi-page PDFs and add initials where the document requires them.

PDF SIGN & SCAN / 03 - 04
Send the finished PDF
Export the flattened copy and return it through Mail, Messages, AirDrop, or Files.

PDF SIGN & SCAN / 04
One important distinction
- This workflow adds a visible handwritten electronic signature.
- If the recipient asks for a certificate, identity verification, or a specific signing platform, follow that requirement instead.
- Review the exported PDF before sending it.
Questions
Do I need to scan the whole document?
No. If you already have the PDF, import it directly. Document scanning is available only when the source is still on paper.
Can I save the signed PDF back to Files?
Yes. Choose Save to Files from the iOS share sheet after export.
